Noituus on aina ollut palveluammatti, ja noidan yhteiskunnallinen asema, rooli ja tehtävät ovat vaihdelleet ihmisten tarpeiden ja tavoitteiden mukaan. Noituuden historia -luennossa tutustutaan siihen millaisia noidat ovat olleet historian eri vaiheissa ja kulttuureissa. Millaisia palveluita he tarjosivat sekä miten ja miksi noidasta on tullut lopulta paha populaarikulttuurin hahmo.
